Ultra Freezers: What are their main classifications?

Ultra freezers are equipment used in research laboratories to protect biological samples, keeping them at very low temperatures. Operating temperature may vary from -45 °C to -89 °C. It has several features, which make an ultrabreeder an extremely reliable solution for laboratory research.

This equipment, with two versions available, is the vertical or horizontal freezer, with access from the top. The most common is the vertical version, as laboratories increasingly seek to save space to make it easier to move.

Features of Ultra Freezers

Ultra freezers, with low temperature internal storage volumes, can start from an internal capacity of 200 liters to a maximum capacity of 800 liters. Polyurethane insulation is also an essential part of deep freezers, it is kept free of pollutants and is designed to keep the cold stored inside the cabinet, between the exterior and interior walls. The high insulation factor keeps the temperature constant inside the cabinet for hours. The main access door, also insulated with polyurethane, guarantees to keep the cold, being blocked by an external closure usually provided with a security key.

Likewise, the ultra freezers have temperature control systems, located on the screen for better handling by users. Similarly, the cooling systems, works by a fan powered by motor and the expansion of refrigerant fluids, is obtained by capillary tubes.

Classifications of Ultra Freezers

The units of the ultra-freezers include horizontal and vertical freezers with useful capacities of between 200 and 800 liters. Both product groups are designed for temperatures of 0°C to -40°C, or -50°C to -85°C at ambient temperatures up to +28°C.

Within ventilation systems, evaporation is carried out through steel plate heat exchangers, located inside the chamber, or by a coil.

According to their classification, horizontal freezers are described, where the copper or copper-aluminum coil evaporator is placed along the walls and bottom, while in vertical freezers, it passes along the walls and on top. The coil in the cabinet eliminates the problem of heat exchange efficiency of freezers with the coil in the insulation cavity.

Advantages of Ultra Freezers in the Lab

Within the daily practice of the ultrabezoidal freezer in the laboratory, it guarantees more than a high quality protection and the reliable longevity of the stored samples, it offers advantages towards alternative solutions, to meet the demands of users, in terms of flexibility and functionality in various applications.

In addition, their important contribution of freezing substances for long periods of time, often represent valuable assets towards appropriate storage, making these units essential tools for laboratories.

Only verified ultra freezers that work without faults or alterations, can guarantee that materials such as:

  • Cell lines.
  • Human, animal or plant tissues.
  • Blood or blood fractions.
  • Vaccines or reference strains of microorganisms such as bacteria, yeasts, viruses and fungi, which will be protected and stored safely and reliably.
